“My Spiritual Message” Mahatma Ghandi

Gandhi’s Kingsley Hall Address

On October 17th, 1931, just days before he would once again be imprisoned, Mahatma Gandhi spoke at London’s Kingsley Hall. It was an address he called “My Spiritual Message,” and remains one of the best surviving sound recordings of his voice. Gandhi opens with: “There is an indefinable mysterious power that pervades everything, I feel it though I do not see it. It is this unseen power which makes itself felt and yet defies all proof, because it is so unlike all that I perceive through my senses. It transcends the senses.” (more…)

Burnt Biscut

When I was a little boy, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don’t remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite! (more…)
